Are you looking for advice or information on managing your debt? You might be facing the threat of bailiffs, bankruptcy or court action for debt; or perhaps you're in mortgage, rent or council tax arrears?
Are you looking for information or advice on tax-related issues, such as: income tax, including rates, allowances and reliefs; PAYE; self-assessment; tax issues for people of retirement age; inheritance tax; council tax; fringe benefits.
Links are provided here to online resources where you can find free, independent and up-to-date information and advice on debt and tax issues, as well as links to relevant government and local council websites.
A good place to start looking for information is the National Citizens Advice Website. For a free independent health check on your finances visit the Money Advice Service Website, or call them on 0300 500 5000.
If you can't find the information you need online, advice centres are places where you can get advice, information and guidance on your legal rights, entitlements and responsibilities. Some of these have drop-in sessions and/or telephone advice lines; others provide specialist legal services, and can only take on cases by referral from other agencies.
All the advice agencies in the Southwark Legal Advice Network (SLAN) listed in the footer below have been accredited with the CLS Quality Mark, which means that they meet the quality standards set by the Legal Services Commission.
