Blackfriars Advice Centre offers generalist advice in welfare benefits, debt, housing, consumer and other generalist issues.
We provide specialist advice on welfare benefits, debt and housing, and can offer representation at Tribunal or County Court where necessary.
We also work in partnership with solicitors Belshaw & Curtin, Bates Wells & Braithwaite, and Hartnells Thomas & Co, to provide legal advice and assistance to clients in the areas of Employment Law, Housing and Small claims. The aim of the service is to provide legal advice service by solicitors for members of the public in Southwark and neighbouring boroughs, who require legal advice but who might not otherwise be able to afford it, and in most cases, are not eligible for legal aid. The Clinic takes place every fortnight on Tuesday evenings from 6pm to 8pm, by appointment only. To arrange an appointment, call in to the drop-in centre or phone the advice line (openning times and contact details below).
The Blackfriars Advice Centre offers a range of general advice, as well as special outreach sessions for members of the Irish, Somali and Bangladeshi communities, plus Sure Start sessions for parents and carers of children under five, including expectant mothers.
Interpreters can be arranged on an appointment basis. Ring the advice line or call in to the drop-in centre with an English speaking translator to arrange for an appointment.
