Discrimination: guidance on definition of disability

The revised 'Guidance on matters to be taken into account in determining questions relating to the definition of disability' came into force on 1 May. It is available from the Office for Disability Issues website at www.odi.gov.uk. This replaces the guidance issued in March 2006 under the now repealed Disability Discrimination Act 1995. A court or tribunal must take this guidance into account when deciding whether or not someone is disabled under the Equality Act 2010.
Equality and Human Rights Commission: consultation on reform

The government has launched a consultation into reforming the Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC). Proposals in the consultation include:

stopping funding the EHRC to run the telephone helpline from April 2012 and instead contracting with a private or voluntary and community sector provider
- stopping funding of the EHRC's conciliation service
-
stopping existing grants for discrimination casework in March 2012 and not awarding money for any new ones from April 2012
-
changing some of the EHRC's powers and roles including its good relations duty.

Equality act 2010: What do I need to know as a carer?
